      '49 Chevy that didn't run I bought for $25 with my allowance money before I had a drivers license. My older brother helped me go to the junk yards and buy a '51 Cad V8, '56 new Pontiac 4:11 rear axle

    Volkswagen Squareback. An early version of an SUV.

     

    got 300k miles out of an engine that took 2 1/2 quarts of oil, and no oil filter.
