Amazon spinners?

Featured Replies

Does anyone buy off-brand in-line spinners from amazon? Some of the good brands are so expensive, 4-5$ each. But I am worried about them not spinning. Does anyone know of a off-brand that spins well? Thanks

In a word, "No!".  Not that some I've gotten haven't been good spinners, but some in the same package were not. It seems that one of the things you're paying higher prices for is consistency.

I still play the cheap spinnerbait game, but I've given up on cheap in-lines.       jj

Same here - I'll use Jawbone spinnerbaits (DSG/F&S home brand)...but for inlines, nothing less than Mepps will do.

Be aware that you get what you pay for.

I would generally rather buy one good spinnerbait or inline spinner for $7-10 than gamble on 2-4 for the same price. I only intentionally buy low-priced spinners and spinnerbaits if I expect to lose them to pike.

Moving parts require quality. for a spinner, you need a good quality wire, a good hook, a skirt that won't disintegrate, and a swivel or clevis that will rotate the blade even at slow speeds.

My experience is cheap inline spinners are no bargain, and I’ve not had much better luck with cheap spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. I would rather cheap out on a crankbait, but even then...

I've bought cheap inline spinners from eBay before (gonna be the same ones you see in Amazon). They aren't worth it - you'll get 1 in 5 that actually works, and it won't work as well as a brand name.

Inline spinners don't have to be super expensive though. My favorite brands are Rooster Tail and the Johnson Minn-o-spin (really, really good spinner). And both of those are cheap, sometimes less than $3 each. I picked up a handful of Minn-o-spin's for less than $2 a piece once.

I would buy a few Mepps Agila or Panther Martin spinners and then stock up on Black Friday sales. Some of these bargain spinners are basically a waste of cash - plus I haven't had great luck buying lures off Amazon at all.

I've tried a few and its hit or miss.

Sometimes they work ok. Sometimes not.

The double bladed versions are a joke. Dont waste your money.

Stick of name brands and you probably be better off.

I prefer roostertails myself.
