Is it best to bait minnow traps with the bait concealed inside a bait cage/bag or just tossed in there?

Featured Replies

I have discovered minnows are absolutely killing it. Do the traps work best with the bait concealed in some sort of bait cage or bag or is it better if it is accessible so the fish stay in the  trap?

I always just threw bread , dog food or something inside .

Crumble a pack of crackers in the trap. That's all.

Still in plastic? Bad idea to use bait cage too?

Bacon, cooked to perfection.

A box of saltines has four packages. Crush one pack of the crackers, open and pour them into

the trap (cage). Go away for an hour and when you come back your trap will be full.  If not,

move your trap somewhere else. An ideal spot is generally the mouth of a small creek that

empties into a stream or cove.
