The one you have had seen MUCH less use.

You won't cast it all off if you are using 10 lb or small dia line. I can cast a jb as far as the reel will cast it and still have a lot of line left, but that is with 10 lb Sniper. I guess you would have that problem with 18 lb mono and a tail wind.

I must admit though, I am not a resident long cast champion like most guys on here. LOL

I think he means if a Musky,  or similar fish,, takes off with the lure or similar sized fish. Unfortunately for me, it's something to think about. I've had musky nail bass lures more than once.

I use a Met DC and am very happy with it.  DC's shine for this application

Dadgum,

This question escalated into the high rent district in a hurry.

I was going to say I throw jerk baits on two different reels - A BPS Carbonlite and a a BPS PQ2.

Bet I catch as many fish as you high dollar strokes, assuming at least half of you actually own those high dollar reels.

What does that have to do with anything? He specifically asked about the Met and the Alde so that's what people were discussing. I suppose if you don't have anything to add to that then you can just move along.

But then that would mean you wouldn't get the opportunity to try to make yourself feel better.

BTW, you should post some pics in the latest catch pics thread, we would love to see them.

How are you guys using 20 lb braid or lower on bait casters without having your line dig in? I tried 30 a few times with PP, and I had a ton of issues.

I regularly use 20lb 832 and have never had that issue. I’ve caught some 7 and 8lb catfish too. Plenty of 3-4lb  bass too. Maybe be you reel in loose line?

??

I recently replaced my Chronarch MGL with Alde MGL 50size 7,4:1 for my jerkbait set up and I'm very, very happy.

Both are great reels but Alde  is more solid and it is super light.

I can cast light baits more easily with Alde than Chronarch. I don't own and I never tried the new Met so I can't say nothing about.

I'm building my jerkbait setup now - in fact I'm expecting the rod to arrive today.

I'm putting a Curado 71 MGL on a 6'10 medium Shimano Zodias. I'm going to spool it with 20 lb Sufix 832 and switch leaders from - say - 10 lb fluoro to 12-15 lb mono depending on whether I'm using it for jerkbaits or smaller to medium topwater baits.

It's a great combo. I've enjoyed mine.

Same here. I'm thinking of getting either another 6'10 Zodias or the new Expride B to have a dedicated straight fluoro setup for jerkbaits and a braid to mono leader setup for small topwaters.

This is also one of my JB combos.

Zodias 610 M, Curado 70 MGL.

Casts great.
