Anyone have the Megabass P5 Tachyon Shaft?

Featured Replies

I know it's a unique rod in the line up but I'm looking to get it for docks. I'm wondering if anyone on here grabbed one from the initial orders.

I don’t have one but I’m also incredibly intrigued by it. Reading the little blurb it seems like they’re selling you a pool cue with some fancy guides on it, but I know it has to be more than that.

Have you watched Ben's (hook up tackle) quick opinion on it?

So I've been out twice with mine now. It's not a pole cue. It's got a soft enough tip to skip a 6 inch senko (not light) without issue. I think it bight actually be able to skip a five inch

I saw your review on youtube and liked what I heard so far about your thoughts on it! Just subscribed today. I also heard you mention that you have throw swim jigs on the Tachyon Shaft. What is your experience with swim jigs on it so far? is it a viable heavy wire swim jig option? Does it perform well?

Yes it can do a heavy wire swim jig. You just need to make sure you keep the pressure as to not let unload

Do you like this better or the Super Destroyer? .....I want to get one for no reason at all ?

Waiting for the comparison vid

Reviving this one.

How does the TS handle frogs in medium to heavier cover?

Is the tip fast enough to walk a frog?

No idea about the TS, but if you are looking for a short frog rod, I was on a quest for one a year or so ago and did a ton of research I would be happy to share via PM or a new thread.

Yup!

How does it look powerwise? So far I am hearing that the rod does not have enough power. In your YT review you mentioned that you were throwing frogs. What size, what cover?

Thanks!

I have been really impressed with it! Very sensitive! Using if for bottom contact (fb jig) and now going to give skipping and frogs a try.  I already have a rod for frogs and skipping, but might be able to consolidate.  I just prefer to have this rod in my hands...it's just that good!

Ive used it for nearly a year for pitching and flipping 3/8 and 1/2 jigs in wood. Super sensitive rod and very powerful. Was on the fence /w the 6'7 length when normally using a 7'2 but I really like it and have grown to prefer the shorter rods for pitching and skipping.
