what type and length senko for spotted bass?

Featured Replies

I have been a fisherman for various species of fish for over 60 years, and just recently started fishing a Senko (I know, I know-what took you so long?). Most of my bass fishing now is confined to chasing spotted bass in one lake, Lake Martin in east-central Alabama, a rocky, highland lake. These fish are smaller and a different strain from the spotted bass in Smith Lake, which were stocked in some California lakes several years ago.

I usually use medium light spinning tackle and 6 or 8 lb finesse type approaches for swimbait or floating worm or fluke lures for spots. What type of senko-regular, slim or thin- and what length senko have you found to be most effective for catching spots?

I caught my PB spot at Quachita Lake on a regular 5" black with blue flakes.  I don't actually

target Kentucky bass, but I have caught them on just about every color I throw for largemouth.

Nothing really "special" to suggest.

Those Alabama spots are mean enough to eat the bag the senkos come in. I’ve never fished Martin but I get them good with junebug and chartreuse stick baits in the muddy Alabama river . If your water is clear I might try a green pumpkin
