Gotcha, just wanted to clarify because I said "catch" and that's a term that could mean a variety of things.. What size and brand are/were you using? And what size class of pike are you getting?

My preference for wire is 30# Tyger Leader...but they went out of business.  I have quite a stash and will be OK for a couple years.

I use Knot-2-Kinky on a couple rigs that benefit from single strand, fairly rigid leader, like a Mepps or a spoon.

Esox size in the net is everything from 12" to high 40-inch fish, this year, flies and gear.

Find your most expensive, favorite bait in your box. Pike will be all over it.   Spinnerbaits and inline spinners are good options, along with the old standby casting spoon.

  • If you dropped your 11" pike pliers in the lake, do they become cover or structure?  Asking for a friend.

I caught my first pike, about 6-7 pounds on a 4 inch Rapala X-Rap in Scoop color.
