Skirt Tying Question

Featured Replies

What is the best skirt material to buy for tying your own jigs and whatnot?  I only need 3 basic colors but I want the best.

I ask because I recently picked up a Outkast Stealth jig and it has a “micro cut” skirt that feels a lot different than any other jig I own so I’d like to find something like that to tie my own with.

There is no best unfortunately. It just depends what action you want, and what your fish prefer.

Silicone is the easiest to work with and has the widest color variety.

Rubber has the most movement but is limited on colors and is the hardest to work with.

Hair is kind of in between.

There's some other oddball materials out there too, but that's some deep down the rabbit hole kind of thing.

Stealth jig looks like fine cut silicone to me.

Looked it up and I agree it is fine cut silicone. You can buy it at fishingskirts.com or livingrubber.com as I know they both sell it.

Jann's and LPO also.
