Looking to buy spinning rod for a friend...

Hey guys. I have a friend who's just kind of starting to get into fishing. He has a nice casting set-up, but his spinning set-ups he got at a garage sale and are pretty beat up. Anyways, I'd like to get him a decent combo for Christmas.

He throws a lot of smaller cranks, smaller jerkbaits (KVD 100) and smaller Keitech's (2.8 and 3.3).

Personally, I have a lot of technique-specific rods that I use (and many time I use casting rigs for with some of these techniques).

What one spinning rod would you guys recommend that can handle these techniques? I see the Sierra's are on sale right now for around $120. How about a 703? Or 704? They also make a micro guide version as well. How would those fare with braid/leader knots?

Any other suggestions for around that price?

I have a Sierra 702 I use for Ned rigs and I absolutely love it...its light and fishes beatifully. For an all around rod I think a Sierra 703 would be able to do alot of stuff. Also its a steal with the TW sale.

I'd go with the 703SF as well...regular guides, not the micro. The 704 would be more useful for T-Rigs, jigs, spinners and chatters.

I've really enjoyed jerkbaits (and flukes) and Kietechs on the SLX 7'0  MH spinning. It has a very crisp action action for snapping retrieves and the backbone of a medium.

I have it paired with a 3000 sized Shimano Spheros SW and it makes quite the little combo.

Hands down Dobyns Sierra 3 power, and right now is the time to buy. Oh, and don't forget to buy the gift card @ 10% off and then use it to buy the rod. Total of 40% off.

I forgot to do the gift card on my first order yesterday but am going to order more today and use that trick.
