Line Choices For New SLX XT?

Featured Replies

Got this reel from Santy and will be pairing it with a GLoomis IMX MBR 784 (older generation). Will be using it for jig and worm fishing primarily. But it would do double duty for spinnerbaits, underspins, swimbaits (keitechs), and medium cranks.

I’m debating spooling up with 40-50# braid, or 15# Abrasx. Would braid or Abrasx be the best choice? I’ve never used Abrasx and the reason I chose 15# was that it’s diameter is the same as the Yozuri Hybrid I use now for some of my setups.

Thanks....Joe

That will work just fine.

Abrazx is a great line. I've had it on several reels this year and love it.

Well, I am odd man out with 10lb flouro on my SLX XG.  10lb mono backing.

i am looking to get this reel also, i see alot of reels go on sale, but ya never see this one on sale, guess i better just get one already. walmart had it on sale last month for 118.00 but they were sold out when i went to add to cart. SOL

15# AbrazX would work great for all of those lures. Some people prefer InvizX because it's more supple and casts easier and the knot strength is a little better but not as abrasion resistant. If there's not a lot of rocks where you fish regularly, I would consider that.
