Stacked terminals on battery

Featured Replies

Most of my electronics are run through my fuse box. I've read that it's best to run the wiring for locators, graphs and such, fused and hooked up directly to the battery. If that's not true, I'm sure I'll be corrected. But, if true, how do you guys stack the ring terminals to the post. I don't have my batteries in a battery box, so my terminals have to have the post covers on them. With the main leads, 3 locators, and the charger all needing to be hooked up, I'm finding it difficult to getting them neatly on the posts. If I alternate the wires (one right, one left and so on) they don't fit under the covers. Am I missing something? What are you guys doing?

I just stack them on, put on a washer and nut and tighten down.  I have at least 5 on mine.  If you also have lead posts you can get adapters that can help.

I use a single adapter on each large post for my transom trolling motor. It's mostly for backing out of jams and getting on the trailer. The two small posts power the fish finder, bilge pump, and lights if I  them.

But they make multi-post units too.

As far as covering the top of the battery, you could buy a $10 or $15 cheap battery box and just strap the lid over your battery to protect the wiring.

Can more than 1 wire be connected into a single ring terminal?

Look up 100A-250A marine distribution Buss bars.

Yes, so long as everything has it's own fuse.
