Does Braid Sink?

Featured Replies

I haven’t used braid in 30 yrs. I do still have a spinning spool loaded with 50 or 60lb test (that’s all it came in then).
Does the new stuff sink?

I wanted to try some this year.

all braided PE is 0.98 the density of water, so braid floats.

The exceptions are hybrid braids adding ester fibers, which are made to sink.

Fluorocarbon is still the densest and fastest-sinking line.

I have heard that YGK G-Soul SS112 is a sinking braided line, but I have not tried it myself.

Yeah when I saw that on TW site is what made me ask this question

I have plenty of braid or would spool up a reel and try it this season... curious to know. If you try it, give us a report back.  Thx

I’ve been using the YGK for nearly 2 years and can confirm that it sinks. Been a great finesse line:
