G.Loomis Conquest 842c or 843c?

Featured Replies

Hello,
I need your advice. I want to get a Conquest but I don't know which one to take since I can't test it in my country. I fish with a total weight of 1/2 to 3/4 oz. (but mostly 5/8oz in total). I would like to cast this range as far as possible. I have heard the Conquest is underrated, which makes me even more unsure.  Which of these models (842c/843c) would you use for the lures shown in the picture? Hope you can help me with this.

I don’t have that particular rod but do have some Gloomis IMX and IMX PRO 843c rods which can handle the baits listed.

I have both.

When throwing baits up to 3/4, I use the 3 power.

I would absolutely go with the 843c for that weight range

It’s just a slightly more versatile rod. My all purpose jig rod is an 844c and it’s a monster. Throws everything down to 3/16oz with ease.

Wow mine won’t.  What reel and line are you using, maybe I need to change.

Thank you for your answer. I was afraid the 843c would not load the 1/2oz(total) properly.

I have the 843c, and if you throw 1/2 oz. more than that's your rod, but if you throw 3/4 oz more I would consider stepping up to the 844c.

With your option I would go 843C. I have 844C myself and I am going to get 842C as soon as my new reel is here, But since you only getting 1 rod and thats the lures you going to cast out, so I thing 843C is the one you want to get.

I guess my Curado E7 is sub par for that operation.

Great reel, great value!  I bought the original 50E and still have it saddled up!

If you are throwing mainly 1/2 oz and up to 3/4 oz, I would go with the 844c.  3/4 oz will stress the 843c in any cover.

843c is what you want. It cast 1/2 and 5/8 oz the best.
