Line thru follow up question...

What is the reason for adding the spit ring to the treble on a line thru?

Attaching the hook to the wireframe? Assuming you're asking about ones that are poured around a wire? Or ones that have the wire added after pouring?

I'm talking about adding a split ring to the treble for a line thru swim bait. Guess I'm not sure what your asking.

LoL, and I'm not sure what you're asking. Have a picture? ?

Gaps the hook eye away from the plastic a bit so the hook doesn’t get wedged into some funny position? It can still free swing, so might aid in hooking and playing fish. Just speculating, as there are different line-through setups (premolded, threaded, plastic tube, etc.).

I think your right. I bought some optimum baby line thru and they came with a treble but no split ring. I saw places where people said add a ring and I think its about movement of the hook...not binding it up or affecting the action of the bait.

I never thought to use a split ring with BLT.  In fact, I tuck the top treble point into the plastic...I feel it's a little more snag-resistant.

Yes it keeps the hook eye from digging into the bait & tearing it up. Also makes the hook more efficient against a fish leveraging the hook lose & provides better hook ups.

Use a bead in lieu of a split ring that can cut the line at the knot. I stick 1 of the treble hook points into the belly of the swimbait so it doesn’t swing around.
