Which anchor pulls up the least mud and grass?

Featured Replies

Looking for a new anchor for my 10ft jon boat that pulls up the least mud and grass. My boat is light so im looking for an anchor less than 10lbs. Most of the bottom that i am fishing is grass. Please give me any suggestions besides poles and thank you in advance.

I am a fan of the baby box anchor, but you will still get a good amount of grass and mud.  A fluke that can be easily flipped from side to side may be easier to clean off as it gets to the boat.  I have also seen homemade rebar one that is finger-like .......they don’t hold much junk but are a ***** to store.

I’ll second the fluke.

I use a 10 Mushroom anchor in my 16 ft canoe.

Works well in everything except rocks.

Either way, every anchor is going to bring up some of whatever it's set in.

Comes with the territory.

Probably a mushroom anchor.  BUT a mushroom that doesn't grab up mud/vegetation, etc. is one that isn't gripping the bottom very well-defeating the purpose of an anchor in the first place.  I usually just swing the anchor back and forth to loosen and wash off the mud.  It's not perfect but what in life is?

If I pull up my 8 lb mushroom anchor and it’s laden with mud, I dunk it two or three times and 99% of the mud comes right off.

It is what it is!
