What are everyone's thoughts about the new St Croix Victory series? Did you buy one? I'm purposely holding off until I read more reviews on them. I've heard mixed reviews. I'm in the market for a crankbait rod and I don't know whether I like the 7'2" MH Power Target Crank rod or if I should go with a MH Legend Glass rod instead... what have you heard about the new rod series (any model)?

 

Do you own any Legend Glass rods? Or mojo glass? Should I go with the tried and true or try something new?

I have not felt the Target Crank rod, but I do have Victory I'm liking so far.

 

I do have a Legend Glass also and have owned a Mojo Glass. the Mojo was a good rod, the Legend Glass is the nicest cranking rod I've ever owned though.

I've own all the Legend Glass rods save for the great big one... I think it was an 8ft plus... what I've found is that it really depends on the way you fish. I would suspect the Victory Target Cranker is more of a... crankbait flipping rod for busting squarebills through cover up close. The 6'8" LG is really great at that but if using some FC lines or mono, a little stiffer rod may be a plus. I have one particular deep diver that I use to fish cover that a stiffer rod like that may be a plus for.

 

The LG line really stands out long casting open water, troughs, ditches, and lighter vegetation. My favorite is the 7'2" M/M for smaller cranks. I use the 7' 4" MH/M for lipless burners (I have have those lengths backwards). One thing for sure, both or those rods will launch a lure into next week. The first cast I made with a lipless had me hoping nothing bit that far out, but I've never lost a fish on an LG.

I'm with @Bluebasser86.  The Legend Glass is absolutely incredible.  I have never used a better crankbait rod.  It's got great parabolic flex without being a floppy whip but also has some solid backbone (I'm using the 7'4 MH).  It transmits vibration better than any glass rod I've thrown.  I was also pleasantly surprised at how light it feels in hand.  I've only thrown a DT-6 and DT-10 on it so far but I know it'll handle up to a 6XD just fine.  I may even ditch my Dobyns Champ 736 glass for another 7'4 Legend to throw bladed jigs.  

  I have the Mojo Bass Glass 7'-02" Heavy, and it's an absolutely great rod. Very versatile for any steady retrieve use, and very authoritative with 1 ounce lures.          

   That being said, I haven't handled the new Victory rods yet. Who knows ..... maybe I'll get a surprise.                    jj
