Got on the fish pretty good today! 18 bass and 1 pike for the day. Biggest 4 were between 3.30 and 3.80lbs. Not a bad day for mid April. Water is still below 50 degrees but, we're already seeing the bass move up. It’s interesting because it looks like there are some fish that came into the shallows early. The key that I saw today is a lot of bait fish in the area that I was fishing.

I caught my first fish on the much talked about fire raw color. That bite seems to peter out after the first 5 or 6 fish so I switched to the bluegill color with a watermelon red flake rage craw and the bite was back on!

Let's go with the Michigan gang! I am a shore fisherman, so that sort of luck only comes to me in the summer or late spring, but those are some nice Michigan Bass!

Yeah, I fish a lake off US 12 just West of 131, can't be more than 45mins from Portage.  Got a spot open for you if/when we can make the schedules work.  PM me if you're down.

Like I was trying to tell someone else, that asked for help, in another thread. This warm end to winter with the ice out early has the fish spawning and staging in high 40’s water temps. It happens up north with prolonged water temps in the high 40’s. Northern bass live in ice water almost half of the year. With early ice out and water temps up 15 degrees for several weeks if not months they will move up. It took me awhile to learn this. Waiting til May in years like this means missing the fun time of year. The girls will be gone, shallow, and only the young boys are left to tend to business.
