Treble hook rod keeper

Or, one could always hang the rod on the wall in a prominent spot, place a velvet rope around it, with maybe an accent light trained on it, ensure any windows have proper UV protection and charge folks admission to admire it during business hours.

Really - rods and reels are 'outdoor items'. They ARE going to get dinged, scuffed, etc...it's just the nature of using them.

Always used a snap/clip for diving crankbaits or tie direct.

Here's my big change I made over the winter, removing the split rings from almost all my hard baits and switching to small snaps in their place. I no longer store rods with treble hooked bait to or from the lake, I just remove them and put the snap on the hook keeper. I wish I'd done it a long time ago.

I have done this for treble hooks baits for as long as I can remember. It only takes a second to remove the bait when your packing up. +++

I agree I get better action with my baits because they can pivot around the bend of the snap with or without the split ring +++

And the convenience of changing baits quickly is a big plus. +++

What are you guys using for rod hook keepers for dual or 3 hook lures to avoid scratching the rod? Multiple keepers?

I put the rear hook on the rod keeper and have a hook bonnet on the front hook.

I remove the snap rings and use the VMC Crankbait snaps, I think I get better action with this set up. That way you don't have to store rods in the locker with trebles.

I use the Fuji hook keepers and put Owner safety caps on the exposed trebles.  You can also cap all of the trebles and run the line through the keeper when its sitting flush against the rod, kind of like a DS weight.  The caps can ruin feathered trebles so Ill hang that hook on the keeper and if Im transporting or carrying a few other rods ill take a old grub cut into a few peices and cover the points of the hook.

This is what I do also, or I will put safety caps on all the trebles and let it hang down to the bottom of the rod sleeve and that holds it in place.
