Has anyone heard anything about the new chronarch mgl coming out later this year? I've heard the current one is now discounted and a new one is planned for later this year.

That is not a new one, that one was released in 17.

 

OP, I would love to see a new Chronarch with the solid core body.

I just picked up the 2017 and so far so good.  I haven't heard anything about a new version coming out. 

I don’t know anything about chronarch. Basically falls right in the middle of the two price points I ever shop in.

I've always loved the look of them, but never owned one.  Curious to see if the new model looks any different.  Just out of curiosity, what does MGL stand for or mean??

Magnumlite spool, supposed to increase casting distance with lighter baits

I kind of hope they bring back the red accents! I loved the old ci4+ chronarch reels I had. I should have kept them but whatever. It would be a fresh look for shimano to throw a little colour into a reel other then the green black and metallic we've been getting. Need more curado E mgl scorpion mgl colours!

You might like the 20 Metanium then. It is built on the solid core and is  a very nice reel. Very similar to the Chronarch in my opinion. If they changed the Chronarch from composite to solid core, I don't see why they would still make both reels.

I have the 20 Met and I love it!!!

I’d be all over that if it has the solid core body at a reduced cost. 
 

I currently own 3 or 4 chronarch mgl’s, 2 bantam mgl’s and 2 Mets (2016 and 2020). The chronarchs are a tough reel to beat at the price point.
