How to rig

Featured Replies

Hello, I’m very new to bass fishing and I found this going through my dads stuff. He says to use a texas rig bc it’s a creature bait, but its hollow on the inside and just seems like a regular old tube bait to me and should just be placed on a tube jig. Any suggestions?

Either way works. You can slide a jighead onto it, but you can also Texas rig it. It’s a fairly popular way to rig tubes

Are you worried about getting hung up? Texas rig it. Not worried? Jig head.

Do you have to use a leader for texas rig?

No

I don't use tube jigs as I basically only fish around hangups. If I fished open areas, an exposed hook would be fine. Texas rig or stupid tube rig for me.

that's a cool looking bait!

my preferred rig for tubes is a weighted texas-rig.  my setup is a spinning rod with braid to a fluorocarbon leader, the fluoro helps from breaking in rocks or wood.

Exactly what I thought...especially with the mention of going through his dad's stuff. I was going to respond that Roland is probably a better resource than us on how to rig this ?
