I need to quit reading this thread .........

just go fishing and see if ya like it! If no give to someone else and try another.

I prefer kayak fishing without a net. If I devoted this much brain power to selecting a net I would never make it out the front door to go fishing

I’m just not sure why no one seems to be able to answer my pretty basic question.

They are trying! Let them help you. A 19” smallie should fit in any landing net on the market. That’s a small fish for where @J Franchois landing them in his net

It says bag depth only 11” as well. Is this really deep enough for a 19” smallie? How much does it really stretch?

YES!

1.5 times stretch as it says in the description

Lol I’m trying too, not trying to be difficult I’m just hearing diff things. J Francho says his net is 17” yet it’s listed on Frabill’s website and everywhere else as 11.”  I just have an excess of equipment that I can’t use from overbuying hence why I’m deliberating over everything I get now, not because I’m crazy haha ?

The answer was no, it is not deep enough. You got like a dozen suggestions for nets. Mine (page 1) is cheap, floats, short handle, deep, wide, and good with trebles, and a pretty famous kayak angler uses it. Buy it.

I used to have a project manager that acted like this. She'd read something somewhere, tell me about it, then ask me what I thought, then she'd take an attitude at every answer I gave her that didn't support whatever notion it was she took about the subject.

OP got answers from a lot of people that have caught a lot of fish and, I assume, landed them successfully using whatever net they suggested.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, though; so I'm assuming that he's suffering from analysis paralysis.

I like the Frabill trout net for netting bass in a kayak. It is only about 13 inches deep but it has handled largies pushing 5 pounds easily. I've only used it on about 5 trips, but it feels sturdy and I am very happy with it. It is the same net that NDYakAngler on youtube uses and it works pretty well for the smallmouths that he catches.

Also I don't know if you fish from a boat, shore, or kayak. If you fish from a normal bass boat I wouldn't get this net. The handle is very short

I have this same net; is sold under different names. I do like that it is small enough to store and that it floats, since I can clip it my anchor trolley and get organized for a second, with the fish in the net. I don't use a net for bass though, although I should really start, particularly for smallies. I use the net for pike, and it is a bit small for that. You say this type of net is good with trebles, but I have had pike twist themselves up into knots with trebles in this net and it took a long time to extract those hooks. So if this rubberized net is "good" for trebles I may give up on looking for something better. There is a G3 version of this net that looks bigger in pictures, and I had thought of upgrading to that larger size (again, for pike, this G2 size is fine for bass).

Try this. I got the Gen. 2 for my oldest son, the idea was to keep it tied to his seat on his kayak. I wanted the larger 3 ideally (and would still buy the larger version given the choice) but they were out but it's a little bit larger and round so it' s not a lost cause with larger fish or treble hooks.

It's cheap and has held up well so far.
