  1. I've simplified everything and just use Rage Menaces for swim jigs, football jigs, and flipping jigs, and Xzone muscle back finesse craws for little finesse jigs
  2. I really just use 1/8 oz, I don't find myself fishing very deep often, and with shakey heads I'm usually in 6-12'. D&L make some good shakey heads and paired with a zoom finesse worm, that combo is so much fun on a spinning rod
  3. 10/10 Zach Bryan is my #1 guy right now and has been for a couple years now
  4. I like a shakey head in the rocks
  5. The test said that I had the reaction time of a 52 yr old and I'm only 18! ?
  6. I've never used a ribbon tail worm up here in MN longer than 7 inches, but I don't see why a 10-12 incher wouldn't work. I have just never really thought of trying it
  7. Thank you veterans for your many sacrifices for our country. Let us not forget those who have fallen in service for our country.
  8. Got out for an hour this morning, same lake as Sunday's trip, and shore fishing again. Got 5 in an hour, which is pretty dang good for me. All on the weightless senko again. Two biggest were 14" and 15", respectively picture below. Water is still pretty cold, I'm pretty sure we're still in pre-spawn and the really big girls will be coming into bedding areas soon. I'm itching very badly to get my kayak out!! Saturday mid-morning after work should be fine, the wind is supposed to die down that day. I'll have to pick out a less popular location to avoid the pressure, probably will try a 10 acre pond nearby.
  9. Pleasure boaters, jet skiers, high winds, and overcrowded fishing spots
  10. @gimruis If you are looking for a new rod in the same price range (I think you said the broken rod was $75) I would highly recommend the Fenwick eagle rods. I've been very happy with how my 6'6" medium has performed so far. They have 6'6" and 7' lengths all in stock at TW right now. As for your situation, I'd just buy a new rod. Same thing happened to me in the boundary waters and I ended up just buying a new rod because the old one became a lot stiffer after I fixed it. That's when I bought the Eagle.
  11. I was too crunched for time to get my kayak out, so I went shore fishing at an ol' reliable nearby lake. Got skunked on Saturday because I could only go when the wind was gusting 20+ mph, but got 10 today with most of them over 12" but none over 14". I lost a 3lb when it jumped clear out of the water. I was just doing my favorite opener combo, a spinning rod with a weightless TX rig and a casting rod with a chatterbait. 9 fish on the senko, 1 on the chatterbait. Instead of fishing straight green braid on my spinning rod this year, I switched to yellow braid and a fluoro leader. I felt like, at least today, the invisible fluorocarbon helped get more bites and I could see the line jump when the bass took the bait much better with yellow braid. I like it so far. I'm using Seaguar basix and it did just fine today, I really hope it continues to perform well because it is very budget friendly when used for leaders. Here are some pictures, hopefully the kayak comes out next weekend.
  12. Got my license last weekend along with a trout stamp so I put it to good use in the driftless area and got a nice little brown. I'm planning on getting the kayak out for some crappie fishing next weekend as well. I just have to decide on a spot. Looking for somewhere i can get some decent fish without much people. Hard to do in the metro! Bass season is right around the corner guys! Can't wait!
