Issues with Heddon spook

Featured Replies

Last week I ordered three super spooks from a large online retailer. Two of the three were defective. One only had two hooks, the hook was left off because the eye was sunk into the bait and will not take a split ring. The line tie on the second bait was twisted and has a 1/4 crack. I know these baited are cheap, but I don’t see how these made it through QC.

Not cool.

Contact the retailer, and make them give you your money back or send you new baits.

I have been buying Heddon products for over 40 years.  I do not believe that you actually purchased Heddon products.

At $8, not sure if I would call it a cheap bait.

In past couple of years, I have seen a few on the shelf that have not had the hooks on or the hook holder was not attached to the bait.  Luckily I still have a few from years ago.  It was one the first baits that I purchased.   Still catches fish.  Bull frog, black and the bone color were my favorites.

I really doubt this place is getting knock off heddons. It’s one of the largest outdoor online retailers.

That's terribly disappointing then.  I hope you can get some satisfaction out of the retailer or Heddon.

I believe the retailer is going to make it right. I still love the super spook will probably just buy in person from now on.

I will take a lesson from you and do the same.

Buying in person is what I always try to do.  With some brands and models, that's not always possible.  But for something like a Heddon Spook, it shouldn't be too difficult to find locally.

I have had so many issues with buying stuff online.  If it's not a problem like this, it's often lost or destroyed in shipping.  Sometimes it's shipped to the wrong address, which is a headache to prove.  Not to mention them pulling the wrong order.  It seems with anything I buy online, there's only about at 75% chance that everything goes smoothly.  And these days, it rarely saves me money and certainly doesn't save me any time.  Maybe I just have bad luck.

Rods are the worst, due to their size.  I'm about 50/50 for ordering rods online.

Drop a line and maybe a pic, to Heddon. Their products are outsourced, so there is a possibility that the issue hasn't been brought to their attention.  Who knows, they may even replace the defective ones.

I bought a rod on amazon just as an experiment and was shocked at how poorly packaged it was--as in NO packaging, no padding, no bubble wrap, nothing. Thrown in a taped-together cardboard sleeve cut from a larger box and shipped. It was a miracle the rod arrived in one piece. Won't be doing that again. And some wit in the amazon warehouse threw a "HEAVY" sticker on the package just for the sheer irony of it. ? I have to give them credit for that one.

Contact Heddon or the retailer and I am sure you will receive replacements asap.  If the Heddon is still in the sealed package with just 1 hook....there are actually folks who collect that type of stuff.

Wow that's bad packaging. I just received a rod from a small store in Minnesota "Joe's Sporting Goods" and it was packed in a very thick cardboard tube. Had to use a machete to cut the tube up for recycling.
