Check this out this crazy thing !

Featured Replies

I'm actually very intrigued by it. It's 10" long (which means it must be like 4 1/2" tall too !), and 7.5 oz. Although I've never heard of trophy bass eating American Shad, and threadfins sure don't get 10" long ! More like 5" max, and 1/10th the weight of a Shad like this. This lure is castable, but it would be quite a workout, compared to say, a 5 oz Hud.....

If ever I was in a place where big Stripers were eating American Shad, I'd definately want to try one. I'm really curious to how a trophy Largemouth would react to it ??? And at only $20 too..... Wonder how it swims ?

Looks like a Gizzard Shad. I'd be interested in seeing how it works on stripers.

Yes, actually it might be..... I always get the Shad mixed up. I just know its the BIG kind :-)

Just to be crazy, I might have to order one :-)

Will post my findings here.

That's funny. I have one of those in my truck. I'll have to take a pic of it.

The lure ? ...or the real thing ? If its the lure, what do you throw it for, and what do you think of its construction, and action ???

why would he have a real shad in his truck ;D ;D

Who makes it?  For $20 I'd like one too for stripers.  The time draws near......

The lure. It's not mine. Senko77 left it in my truck. He got it from Randall. If it stays long enough for my swimbait rod to get here I will be chunking it for LM. It seems pretty solid. It could use better hooks.

Its probably supposed to immitate a gizzard shad. We have them in our river, and i have actually caught a few before. One was about 15", and i guess they get up to 4 pounds.

this one is actually made by Trophy Technologies. It's called a "Shad Clone", and to be quite honest, I can't believe they can sell them for only $20.... If you saw one for $10, it's definately a different brand / design.... or maybe a closeout I guess.

Hey Cajun77.... come on man, I was tired :-) I just couldn't believe anyone actually had one of these crazy things !

But as a matter of fact, when I was cleaning out my last car, I found a small petrified fish in my trunk :-) I think it must have jumped out of a bait bucket at one time or another. As a matter of fact, I kept it as a souvenire. Got it tacked to my corkboard, right here beside my PC :-) So, could you repeat that question ? :-) LOL

Peace,

Fish
