I finally got my Jointed Pikie

I've wanted one of these since I watched a YouTube video of guys jigger poling with it. I found one in an antique shop in the mountains at a fair price (with no shipping cost). It's about 7 1/2" long and 1 3/4 oz. The hooks are pretty much shot if I want to actually use it. It's hard to tell, but a couple of the hook points are broken. They also look pretty oversized. What would you replace them with? I was thinking of using some Spook takeoffs. The stock ones seem a tad oversized anyway.

Owner STX-45 Zo Wire Treble Hook probably a size 1

I'd also add an Owner Hyper Wire Split Ring #4 50lb split ring as well.

I sold several wooden Pikie’s that size last Nov on this sites Flea Market!

Size 1/0 Owner STX-58

I replaced the hooks on mine with 1/0 Mustad 3X treble hooks. Can't remember if they were standard length, or the short shank ones.

I've already ordered some Owner STX #1 trebles and some split rings from Amazon.

OK, I give up. How did you remove the original hooks? I've gone at mine with side cutters to no avail. You can see in the pic They're on loops, not rings.

Dremel?

One tool I do not own. I was thinking hacksaw, but they're not very easy to get to.

Aren't the hangers just screwed in? I think that's the screw head, the loop.

I believe you can unscrew them by grabbing the hook and turning.

That looks to be a wire-through bait. Cut the hooks off with a dremel or good side cutters. Add hooks back on with split rings.

I got them off by clamping on the hook eye with big side cutters and rocking the hook with another set of pliers until they snapped. I have hooks and split rings ordered.

Knipex, or Channel Locks, and a gym membership... :)

Good cutters are like seat belts, you don't need them, until you need them. We have to cut throughheavy salt water hooks, so we keep a good set onboard.

ps: nice find on the Chub

Yeah, I found it at an antique shop in the NC mountains. They knew what they had but haggled with me a bit. By the time I've replaced the hooks I'll have more in it than it's worth. But I'm gonna use it!
