After seeing your post I looked it up on a map.  Looks like it's only about a 3-4 mile walk and a 4000 ft change is elevation!  That would make for a fun walk back to the car.:hot-sun-192:

that’s why you camp along the lake at the great Smoky Mountains national Park back country sites and either ride the ferry known as the Miss Hazel across to Fontana Dam where your second vehicle will be waiting. Or do you like my friends and tell me to have my bass boat sitting at camp with steaks and beer

I just have a regular truck no trailer brakes. Just go slow no trouble. Pull over on pullofs and Let motorcycles go around. You really can’t build up anymore speed than 20 mph anyhow. Fontana is a little over 70 miles from my house but it takes me 2 hours to get there

It's getting there for me. A two day trip to get to Cherokee would turn into 4. There ain't an easy way to get there. Just handling the blue ridge on 81 will be fun. Once past Chattanooga I'm alright( and no I'm not touching that road between Chattanooga and the dam).

If my 13' was road worthy I might try it.. not with a 1200lb dead weight.

I met some folks from Chattanooga that were riding the ferry across the lake last time we were there. They said they just  took 129 like I did. I would imagine they got on 411 somewhere, then 72, then 129
