I never seen circle hooks smaller than size #6 or at best #8 for sale, i know they intended for salt water, but i wanted to try for freshwater, however i usually use small J-hooks #10 or #12 most of the time and #8 circle hook looks huge compared to them.

We also have roach about same size, but it has little mouth and also the carp, which is not too big either.
 

 

 

I guess i'll save circle hooks for sea surf fishing.

8/0 is huge, but #8 is tiny.

If it's a #/0 - the larger the number, the larger the hook

if it's just a # - the larger the number, the smaller the hook

 

A #1 is just slightly smaller than a 1/0

A #20 is a trout hook - I use to tie flies on hooks that size.

For sunnies and perch, I use a #6 or #8 as a matter of course when using worms under bobber.

Yep, you can get smaller circles from just about any company.  #6 or #8 Gami Octo circles would work great for perch or any panfish really.  Owner makes quite a few different circle hook styles as well, I like the mutu circles for floating bloods.  Wal Mart usually carries smaller size pre rigged Matzuo circles.  Theyre pretty cheap so you can just cut the leader off and rig them any way you want.

I prefer the small gamakatsu octopus circles for porgies (bream) and big bluegills. These work best, because that extra bend prevents large, very strong panfish from ever shaking the hook.

Circle hooks are made in some smaller sizes, but small circle hooks for small fish really doesn't make sense.
