Anybody ever had Wynn grips peel? The one on my Patriot rod is peeling off the first layer of color. My other Patriot is fine. Should be fun getting warrantied since they have none in stock.

I had some peel or disintegrate on me this week. They started bleeding color as well.

Just out of curiosity, did it ever get really hot? I've dealt with a lot of them and the only one I've seen peel so far was when I tried to heat and remove it.

Also does it see heavy use, and what do you use to clean it (if you have). I'm just trying to gather information because when they first came out many people were afraid of this.

I asked about the longevity of these grips to a St. Croix rep when I was looking at their Yak series and he said on average 5-6 years with normal use but maybe longer.  He then said the important thing was keeping it from getting completely soaked then used and you also have to clean it with a wet cloth with no soap or chemicals, just water and left to dry.  They will also break down faster if used in cold weather or stored in freezing temps.  Alcohol can be used to restore the tackiness.

Adding to what I said above.....  You may have loved on it too much and I can't think of anybody that fishes for as long as some of us have that hasn't done this to their gear.

My local store has several of the Patriot rods in stock.  You might be able to have them order it and do a ship to store if they will cover it> usually wear and tear is not covered but break it on a hook set and you're usually leaving with a new rod (go figure).  Good luck.

My favorite senko rod is a CastAway Skeleton with Wynn grips.  It’s probably 10 years old and it never peeled but I did wear it out.  Actually wore through it.
