First squirrel I’ve seen like this

Featured Replies

Despite the scorching temps yesterday I got a start on some dumpling makings. This big boar had little to shade himself with. I’ve squirrel hunted 25 years or more and this is the first I’ve seen in this condition.

I’ve caught a few without a tail whatsoever and I’ve caught a couple like the one in your picture.

funny story: there was a graduate student doing a project on grey squirrels years ago and he painted the tails of a few of them fluorescent Orange. The next day all the ones he painted had chewed the hair off their own tails. No squirrel wants to be high vis !!

My thoughts exactly. Same as any fox/coyote/deer getting it.
