New Texas rig invention?

Featured Replies

Now maybe this exists and I just don’t know about it but wouldn’t a football head shaped Texas rig weight be amazing for dragging a t rig on the bottom? You could swap hooks for different baits, add a punch skirt, fish it pegged or unpegged, lead or tungsten. Seems like someone would have come up with this by now, if I inspire anybody to mod their football jig mold please send me 100 or so weights, thanks ?

Mustad and SK make quick hook attach T rig football heads and Outcast makes a quick hook attach wobble head. Reins makes a sliding FB head and VMC has a sliding Rugby head.

You rock, gonna have to try them out. Kinda sad I wasn’t the first person to think to think of them though. I’m surprised they aren’t more popular, we have all these different shaped jig heads but use the same t rig weight shape for every situation.

Just find a the closest thing to green pumpkin from Rustoleum, and these weights are fantastic.

@BlakeMolone, let us know how you like 'em!  I wonder how similar they are to wobble heads.

I wouldn't imagine them being much different than dragging a swinging football head? Probably be a little harder on your line even depending on where the line enters the weight and how protected the line is from the lead.

Much cheaper though and I can easily adjust hook size and add a or remove a skirt, ordering some for slow fishing this winter, hopefully they do okay!

I guess that's true. I never consider the store prices versus what it cost me to make them.
