Lure ID Please

Featured Replies

Hoping someone can identify the two lures below. Extra interest in the jig trailer combo as i found two of them in the same spot so thinking i may want to give them a try. Thank you

Also is this a good file size or should they be smaller?

This wont be too much help, but the first kind of looks like a bomber to me.  Is hard to tell exactly what either the jig or trailer is because the skirts hiding the body of the trailer and the trailer is hiding the hook and keeper of the jig.  A Gene Larew Hammer Craw would be a great alternative to that trailer.

I think I have that trailer based on the claw patterns. once I get home this evening I'll take a look and see if it matches.

The crank looks like one of those cheap Matsu ? Matso?  I forget the exact spelling, that you'd find at Walmart.   Maybe a Renowsky ?   Kind of an American Shad pattern, but nowhere close to the Lucky Craft version of American Shad.    Not really sure - did it have decent hooks on it or cheap hooks?

The jig is just a football with too much blue mixed in IMO.

The crankbait is the exact same blank as the Ozark Trail crankbaits from Walmart, but I don't see that color on their website.

Both color patterns seem great to fish. But options of both are countless, don’t see where the exact manufacturer is gonna play into it. Or make anything better. Patterns are pretty basic and who knows how effective they really are there. Try it but you may already have stuff that will work better. I would not build any confidence in something you found. Go with something you already have fish confidence in.

Looks like I can't check multiple solutions.

Thanks Bluebasser86 on the crankbait and also for everyone else chiming in.

I do agree with all your points and I already have too many cranks that I have confidence in.

Jigs are another story tho and this will be a starting point for heavier profile stuff.

At the same time the handful of lures I've found have all become confidence baits.

I have never approached the bigger profile jigs. To be honest they scare my by their size and that in itself is not going to boost my confidence level in them. I truly shy away from them.  But Cabin Creek Spider Jigs and Missile Micro Jigs I can handle them. Heck I think I’ve been fishing the Cabin Creeks for 20 years plus. Good luck fishing and hope you find the combination you are looking for.
