Clear water just gives you more visual drawing power, so you should be good from that standpoint. Lots of thoughts on retrieves, but a safe starting point would be something like 5-10 handle turns, then twitch twitch with the rod tip or reel handle, then resume 5-10 handle turns, etc. Also twitch and briefly pause near key structure.

Another way to fish the 168, no matter the water clarity, is to just use the reel, by turning the handle 1/2 turns, kinda quick. What this does is it almost walks the 168, only sub surface, so it's a zig zag pattern. You can vary this by slowing down, or speeding up.

Also try this and then burn it for 3 or 4 handle turns.

I have so many glide baits, But one always on one rod rigged and ready to go and that is S-waver 168. What makes 168 special is that you can fish it so many ways. Even if you just reel it slowly it will swim very nice and attract fishes and you can stop reeling or speed up or twice to trigger the followers. Anyways feel free to retrieve as you wish and you'll have the results.

My most successful retrieve for me with S-Wavers is the same method I used for Musky lures like a Suick. A 2’ downward side rod sweep stop and reel in the slack and repeat. The difference with Wavers is slow down the rod sweep in lieu of ripping it. Most strikes are aggressive T boned.

Very interesting, have not heard of that retrieve yet, I will surely give it a try!

Fish it like a giant jerkbait! It’s good cover bait as well. Fishing along cover you come up to a tree, twitch it hard, fish thinks it’s getting a way.   You will get a lot of follows but that’s a great thing. If they aren’t interested in a big bait you know where the fish are so you can switch up and fish differently

At nearly $20, I don’t think I’d throw it anywhere near structure.  And if it was the $45 version, I think I’d probably just mount it above the fireplace.

Fair enough, the way I see it is if people are paying $15 for a jackhammer, 5 extra bucks for a huge swimbait with quality terminal tackle is a fair deal.
