Painting Buzz Bait / Spinner Bait Blades ?

Featured Replies

For extra silver buzz bait / spinner bait blades I have , I thought I would try my hand at painting them (i.e. white , gold , black) . I started with Rustolium white spray primer then finished with a a couple of coats of either Rustolium gold , black or white ... After curing - I'll see how they hold up in actual use. If the paint wears off too fast - I'll just buy painted blades from Janecraft , Lurenet , etc. Anyone else tried their hand at painting blades ?

I used to paint them but never had much success keeping it on.  I’ve had better luck with tape.  These blades are covered with duct tape.

I paint mine with a powder paint gun. It takes practice to not get too much on but it works well and stays on a long time after it's baked. I paint a lot of blades for my bladed jigs like that too.

I have been painting them with createx and then coating them with clear gloss polyurethane. The poly leaves alot to be desired, but my can of kbs hardened on me and i havent made a uv cure setup yet. Once i get clearcoaring down, i think this will be the way to go.
