i have to take my wife to Allentown PA next week for a checkup, i have been to Cabela's and Bass pro shops, but never to a Sportsman warehouse, there is one in Warminster PA, curious if anyone been there. is it worth a extra 90 min drive there. are they similar to Cabela's or BPS for inventory, mainly looking for a  Daiwa TTU761MLMFS spinning rod which i have been looking for the past 4 months. is it worth to browse around.

I’d Google that rod to see if it’s in their inventory. I don’t think it would be worth the drive. I have one in town and I rarely go.   But they do carry my rod brands.  Dobyns and Phenix.

that rod is not is stock anywhere in the country, but was hoping they would have it. but was going to take a ride just to browse, hoping was going to be like a Cabela's

Although I’ve never been, I would go just to take a look around. You never know what’s on sale at any given time. I have access to both Cabelas and Bass Pro but for me they’re the same store since the buyout. I found my favorite rod & reel carrying case/bag  through Sportsman’s Warehouse which neither of the other two carried. 

I would go just because. 

According to Sportsman's Warehouse website, it's not in stock at that location but you could order it.  You could call the store as well..... 215 867-7200.  

 

 

Well as far as I know of Johnny Morris owns all three now so may be all the same overpriced crap!

There was time when I was a huge fan of Bass Pro Shop.  In the past few years, they never seem to have what I want.  Their bait shelves are empty or picked over much of the time. They have removed most brand name products and replaced them with their own brand.  If you want anything particular these days, you will need to order it online.  Some people on this forum have expressed their disappointment with Tackle Warehouse.  I find their website to be the best.  If they are out of stock on something, the website tells you up front.  If you click the right spot, they will notify you when it's back in stock.  Beats driving for miles only to be disappointed by BPS again.

Well so much for my previous comment ?. I’m just glad I have other options as far as tackle shops in my area.

I prefer to buy my baits from a small local tackle shop nearby.  They seem to have what I want when I want it and they are a good source of information on what is working locally.  It may cost a little bit more, but I feel like I'm helping the local economy.  I buy more expensive items like reels on line.  No local tackle shop can stock everything.
