Shimano SLX Casting Rod 6'10" Medium + Jerkbaits

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about purchasing this rod to throw 1/2oz Jerkbaits like the Rerange Jerkbait 110 and Megabass Ito Vision 110 . The lure weight rating for this rod is 1/4-1/2oz and I want to make sure that 1/2oz Jerkbaits aren't too heavy for this rod.

For anyone who has used this rod, are the 1/2oz Jerkbaits ok on this rod or should I think about moving up to the MH? Do 1/2oz lures make the rod tip feel too heavy?

Thanks!!

If the rod is rated for baits up to 1/2oz., I’m pretty sure there’s nothing to worry about.

Should be good to go. SLX's are fairly stout for their ratings. My 7'2" M XF is stouter than a couple of my MH rods.

You're good to go. I've thrown 1/2oz baits on mine and it's not even close to overloaded at that weight.

My SLX mh is for sure more stout than other rods I own with the same rating. Mainly I find the tip isn't as soft.

I ended up picking up the SLX Combo and am pumped to get into some Jerkbait fishing!
