Electronics Repair

Featured Replies

I have a Garmin echoMAP50dv depth finder on my boat. The card reader has gone bad in it and I haven't been able to do any updates for several years. I finally e-mailed Garmin about the problem. They told me they didn't have any replacement units for this and they could no longer repair it. They recommend I send it to a marine electronics repair shop.

Does anybody have any info on these places. Who would be good to send it to or who to avoid? Any help and info is appreciated. As expensive as this unit was when I bought it I would rather repair it than replace it.

You might call Clear Cast Marine in Springfield MO and see it the might have the part.

I have never had a depth finder apart. Electronics repair usually needs a very gentle touch and may have to solder wiring in a very small space. I would rather leave it someone that is better at this type of work than I am.
