I’m at that point now…

I have way more than I need.  When comes to what I actually fish, I take 2 rods in the kayak, 5-6 on the boat and sometimes only one when I bank fish.  I can't fish all of what I have on the same day but I wish I could.

On a side note, the last time I was out on the water (2 weeks ago), I ran into a guy that was fishing by himself and had at least 15 setups in a small aluminum boat.  They were just scattered around the boat in no order at all.  Each rod was actually for a different technique.

  • The fish WILL REFUSE to bite. If you are not using the different rigs required by law !!   ?

It might be better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

the trouble is, if you stop spending money on fishing gear, something in your house or vehicle will break.  the money will find a way out.  it always does.

Same here.  I take 5 (sometimes 4) when I fish with my B-I-L in Florida...in a 14' canoe.  Mostly only use 3...unweighted 10" ribbontail, spinnerbait and either an F11 Rapala or a 3/8 oz. squarebill.  Number of rods taken for fishing from shore locally depends on whether or not the wife rides along.  Yes...4-5, no...8-10.  BUT I can't remember the last time I used all the rods I took with me.  Each are pre-rigged, but I find myself only using 2-3 techniques.

I'd like to be like the guy you saw with 15 setups, but I no longer have a way to transport my Porta-Bote.  Of course I couldn't guarantee that I'd use all 15.  Probably still be sticking to those 2-3 techniques.  :wall3:

Sad thing was he had about $5000 worth of electronics on it as well and neither one of us caught a single bass that day. Some days it doesn't matter how much gear you have,  the fish may not be biting.

A disease and a sickness so I’m told.
