Calm Weather fishing.

Most of the same baits. Jig, lipless, spinnerbait, Trick Worm, fluke, etc. Add topwaters in warmer weather. I don't really like most finesse techniques unless they are necessary.

You just never know what a crazy ol' bass will bite.

This is me too.  Unfortunately there always comes a time when a bass is not willing to chase a moving lure.  Normally in my my experience this occurs when the weather is calm, hot, sunny, and dry during a period of high pressure.

Its also the reason I try to avoid fishing on these types days lol.  I fish with what I have more confidence in and what my strengths are.  Some days simply turn out better than others.

These are the days I like to pitch the jig to specific wood targets. But being a kayak fisherman, calm days are the easiest for me to fish. I got my PB at about 10:00 AM on a spinnerbait on a day with full sun and no breeze.

As a kayaker, I relish calm days.

I cast out further from my boat.  Same usual suspect baits.

Bass dont abandon cover on calm days . I fish it the best I can and if I do a good enough job, bites will happen .

I agree. I love pitch'n on slick days. Stealth matters. Electronics off, trolling motor on low, and your bait needs to enter QUIETLY into the thickest stuff you can find. You'll see lots of cruisers on those days. They're very spooky. The fish that are burrowed into the slop are much more cooperative.

As it gets warmer around here most of the small lakes and ponds start getting vegetation growing in them.  I like to start off with a topwater, then fish down just above the vegetation, then finally punch through the stuff and fish on the bottom.

I always try faster moving baits first on calm days and will revisit them during the day. Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits run just under the surface and over the weed tops and lipless cranks burned over them are the two styles I like most. The spinnerbait and lipless have the advantage of dropping at the weed edge. Another is a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worm which has the advantage of dropping into openings.
