The 6 decal sticker on my Nitro Z-6 fell off some time ago. I was tired of my boat saying "Z-  Nitro", so I peeled the Z- off and now it just says "Nitro". It looked good until today when I washed and waxed the boat. Now you can clearly see the adhesive where the stickers were. How can I remove the adhesive without scratching or otherwise damaging my boat?

If the decal was installed on a plastic or a painted surface do not use acetone.  It can easily damage the surface. Goo-Gone or Goof-Off should do the trick for you.  Both are available at your local hardware store.  Just as a precaution, apply to a very small area at first to ensure no damage will occur.

WD-40 removes some adhesives such as that on masking tape in a flash.  Lemon oil is also worth a try, and, I've also heard mayonnaise works well, at times.  Try the stuff with less potential for damage first.

Try miracle whip. We have used it to take tar ball stains from shirts and shorts from a day at the beach. Just dab it on and rub it with yoiur fingers until it desolves the tar(And it will). Wash and forget it. You can't find the spot. works on adhesive to.

finger nail polish remover does great on that kinda thing.  so does wd -40

WD-40 work great for removing black strap caulk, tar, gunky stuff out of cloth seats and clothes.

Goo-Gone Is the best at removing adhesives.. I have a big bottle that has lasted ten years now, and still going strong.

Finger nail polish remover is nothing more than acetone in a pretty bottle.   

PB Blaster sticker and decal remover. NOTHING works better!!!!!

Goo-Gone is the ticket.  If your still having issues slightly heat it with a hair dryer while rubbing in the goo-gone.  You can also use a none abbrasive scraper (like the rubber kind you use for dishes) to help get it off there.  Once you get it off wash the area and apply a coat of wax, it'll look like new.

Thanks for the ideas. It will probably be a couple of days before I get around to it, but I'll let you know how it works out.
