6" huddleston deluxe vs. 6" deluxe 68

Featured Replies

the deluxe 68 has the 8" tail size on the 6" size swimbait. anyone have experience with both that could offer some insight and pro's/con's to both?

They get bit in the northeast in the cold. Do you have the stick to set the hook on it?

i'd probably throw it on my 7'6 tatula elite heavy flipping stick until i get an actual swimbait rod

You'll be pushing it. Might be OK with the Deluxe, but will be sketchy with a beast hook on the weedless.

i'd probably stick to the top hook version for now. the rod is rated for 1 3/4 oz. so i think i'll be able to get away with throwing a 2oz. bait

The standard 6” Hudd is a lighter swimbait with very little swimming action and I haven’t had good success with it.

The 68 fishes heavier then the 6”, it weighs more and swim a lot better then the 6”.

A flipping rod has a fast tip and stiffer upper 1/3 of the rod them an moderate action swimbait rod. The result a flipping rod is more difficult to make longer cast, no issue hook setting either a weedless or top hook.

OS, what ROF are considering?

I have the 68. The swimbait is the biggest thing I have caught on it. I don't know where and how to fish a swimbait but I have wasted a bunch of money on them.

I have both the regular 6" and a bunch of 68's. As Tom mentioned, the regular 6" doesn't have the action that the 68 does, and for that reason I tend to fish the reg. 6" during the colder water days, I also tend to fish it in gin clear water, sometimes no matter what the temps are.

Any other time, and especially in stained water, the 68 gets the call.

I throw these hudds on a 7'9" h/F rod rated to 4 ozs. Reel is a Diawa Tatula 200,  with 17 lb. mono.
