I wear sun gloves that do a good job protecting my thumbs while protecting my hands from UV rays. Always have the option not to lip them and just grab them around the head or body instead.

I just started wearing them middle of last year. I bought a couple pair of fish monkey gloves. I wear them all the time now. In addition to the sun protection, I get a better grip on the rod with them.

Go to  the Fisherman’s thumb.com

Check out the pro flex 5 might work for you.

I think you can find thumb guards on the same isle as the nail polish.

When I have cuts or gouges on my fingers bad enough I need them covered at work, I have had good luck with electrical tape.

One isle over from feminine hygiene...

Anyone use one of these?  I'm not trying to humble-brag, but I've caught so many bass in the last two days that my thumb was bleeding from lipping so many fish.

I tried using tape to keep going, but it kept coming off.

That’s the best part of bass fishing… you gotta fight through it

I usually use a set of fish grippers, especially if I catch something using treble hooks.

But as luck would have it, yesterday I did not grab the grippers and as I I went to grab a dink it did a big shake and it ripped open my thumb.

Because of the frequency of pike/snakehead bycatch I always have a pair of lip grippers on me.  I use them for bass whenever I’m dealing with treble hooks or what it’s cold out and I want to keep my hand as dry as possible as long as possible.

I picked up a pair of wide receivers gloves yesterday to try out. Full silicone palm and fingers give a fantastic grip on the rod and good feel. Made a few pitches in the back yard and was happy with the way they felt. Dunno if the silicone on the thumb will hold up or not, but these may end up being a good option, especially on cooler days. Cutters brand, only $18.

I would use self elastic bandage found cheap on Amazon. It stay self adhesive pretty good even when wet. I use this when practice golf. Unfortunately I never need this for bass and I have city hand, not sure how would your thumb would look like after been wet for 6-8 hours every days.
