Champion XP: 705CB vs 705CB Glass vs 705CBMF Glass

Featured Replies

I’m torn between these three champ rods. I’m looking at this rod for 1.5-2.5 squarebills and up to 3/4 oz traps like the LV500. I’m looking at this rod to throw 1.5 squarebills mainly but still be easily capable of the other baits. Fishing these baits mainly on 12 lb fluoro.

I have the DC 706cb and find it super useful and ended up selling my Fury 705cb.  From a Gantarel Jr to a 3/8oz underspin and all of what you're looking to do.  Might want to consider putting it on your list.  Sorry, can't help with the glass versions.

The 705’s sweet spot is precisely 1/2 to 3/4 ounces, you won’t be disappointed.  As for glass vs graphite that’s a personal preference, I have both and can live with and adapt to either. The caveat is I don’t think I’d pay full price on the champions, for that money I’d pony up a few extra clams and go expride or st croix legend glass. I have the 705 and 706 but picked them both up on sale for about $190, if your set on dobyns check their website, they often have refurbs there at discounts with full warranty.
