Question about paint chipping

I just noticed a small piece of paint chipped away where the exposed part of the blank is by the finger rest. How should I seal it so it can't chip away any further? Thanks

    Thanks, I have no idea how this happened. I never bumped the rod or anything in this area, just seems like a strange place to happen
