Debating between the IMX Pro 844c and 904c MBRs. This rod will be a jack of all trades for my kayak to throw anything at or above 1/2oz in total weight. Most likely this will be: Big Texas rigs, carolina rigs, 1/2 oz chatterbaits, 1/2 oz underspins w/ paddletails. Most of the time, these are the baits I'm looking to throw. 

Less likely, but still possible when I'm struggling for a bite will be large lipless, big spinnerbaits/buzzbaits with trailers, and maybe even a frog. 

Space is limited because of the kayak, so I can only carry one heavy rod, so this is gonna have to get by for as many things as possible. 

Between the 7'6" and the 7', what are the biggest differences that 6" is going to make for those guys who've fished both? 

On my kayak I like the 844 more, it's easier to deal with.

It's a great rod for so much stuff. I use it for 1/2oz jigs, swim jigs, big spinner baits, frogging, whopper ploppers, big paddle tails (over 5").

That's my 2 cents.

I have 844C IMX and the GLX and I have a 904C NRX.  On a kayak the 844C would be my choice but for fishing a jig from a boat, the 904C is my favorite.  I have tried all the baits mentioned above and the 844C will do them all well. The only things I didn't like were crankbaits and 1/2 oz or lighter jerkbaits.  Crankbaits just didn't feel right and I think a 2 or 3 power is better for working a regular sized jerkbait.

I have an FS904 IMX built out to 7'10" for throwing frogs.  Comparing it to my 844C GLX it is a pool cue.  Killer for pulling stuff out of the monster slop, but too much rod for a generally purpose rod IMO.  It is very possible the 904C is completely different as mine is an FS and now 12 years old or so.

From a kayak, I think the 844 would be the way to go. It is a very versatile rod that does many things well.

I'm looking at the 844 mbr as well, how would it handle 3/8 oz. chatterbaits/spinnerbaits/swim jigs (obviously plus a trailer)?

It should work just fine.  By the time you add the trailer it will be around 1/2oz.
