Question about my St Croix rods "usage &safety tips"

Featured Replies

One of the tips says, "Avoid 'high sticking' your rod when fighting or landing fish." What does "high sticking" mean?

Using the rod itself to pull the fish out of the water.
It can be especially dangerous when standing in a boat as the angle changes to straight up and over the gunnel as opposed to dragging a fish out when fishing from shore.

Thank you, this is quite helpful. Now I just have to figure out how to get a hooked fish up to a pier that is about 4 feet above the water.

The way @Glenn brings them into his boat in his videos....grab the line and haul it in that way...rod never takes the load.

A fish under say 10-12 lbs you can hand line it up with big enough line, another option is a bridge net, which is a ring net on a long line.
