Rumor has it stren original is being discontinued 

It still sells, people still swear by it.

Unfortunate if true.  I used it exclusively back when I was ditching high school.

A buddy of mine who works in a tackle shop gave me the news and if you go on pure fishing website it says currently unavailable. What else is new pure fishing discontinues anything that’s good

I think they are repackaging it. I have seen the old package on clearance and the new one is $2 or so higher.  All I know is, is one of the guys I fish with swears by it. It cost us about $1200 last week. He lost a nice 4lb'er when his line snapped 6in above the knot.

That could be it. They did the same thing with trilene xl and xt

I'm one of the said people who swears by it. Never had the line break. I also know people who've had it snap multiple times. 

Stren Original in 14 lb clear is my topwater line. 

Have sworn by it since I started fishing with my grandpa as a kid. He swore by it and it has never let me down.
