Where to store a Jon boat?

Featured Replies

Hey guys I want to own a Jon boat but challenged on where to store it. I can’t store it at home and the storage rents are way too high here. Any suggestions are kindly appreciated.

Find a friend with some room and take him/her fishing.

Why can't you store it at home?

Apartment dweller maybe?

It may take some time and work, but Craigslist and FB can put you in partnership with someone with barn, shed, garage or carport space.  It will still cost you, but nothing like a self-storage place or marina.

When I lived with my then girlfriend in a 2nd floor 450 square ft walkup studio in NYC, I kept my 12 ft cartopper on, drum roll......  the car (Jeep) top. Not sure how the 13 ft one piece surf rod and the 55 gallon fish tank fit in that apartment, (not to mention 2 bicycles), we still laugh about that to this day, yeah, she was a keeper...

Could be an H.O.A. deal. I've built and lived in two houses and a condo (didn't build it) in H.O.A. communities. None allowed boats, campers, utility trailers, etc to be stored outside. No big deal to me as I've always stored my boats in the garage, but I can see where it could be an issue for some.

If you can't store it, then you probably shouldn't buy it.  Maybe look into a kayak or something smaller, like an inflatable.

Storage is why I don't own a jon boat.  But I can store my kayak in my garage above my car with a pully hoist.

First, thank you all for responding. Yes, it’s an HOA deal.
