What is it?

Featured Replies

So first post here. Long story short’ish. Picked up a boat with no definable ID on what brand / make it is. Decoded the HIN and it says it’s a 1995 18ft HOMEMADE , which is , as far as I can find out, lingo for a boat where one of the previous owners couldn’t or didn’t have/know the brand or make for the boat or for someone who built their own, which this is definitely not built at home. HIN on boat matches the title but I’ll be darned if I can’t find out anything else about it. USCG stamp on inside by passengers seat says nothing either about manufacturer. Multiple storage areas, 2 live wells etc The only name is Sunline on the sides, which could have been out on the side by anyone. . I have a few pics , just looking for help from the very knowledge crowd here. Can supply more pics. Thanks

Ya, I don't think it's a Sunline - that's a line of day cruisers and even ocean going cruisers.

This is a typical Sunline

Yup. That’s what I saw too. Those stickers could have been added whenever or it was a boat with a limited run. Did have a windshield or individuali ones at some point , which is why I’m seeking the brand so I can get them.

Looks similar  Glasrton  80’s vintage bass boat.

Am I not seeing all the imperfections?

Looks like a well kept boat for a 95 regardless of what it is.

Just needs some carpet and gel coat redone on topside. 60hp Merc. 40lb trolling.

95 is probably when they retitled it as a salvage, it appears to be mid eighties.

So I checked with the DMV and apparently there was a company at one time called Indiana homemade boats and the HIN is correct but the boat is 77. Which I’m good with as I didn’t pay a “95” price anyways. But of course if you type Indian home made boats   in anywhere , you get everything apart from the info you want. Now just not sure on what direction to go to get a windshield for it ..looking for ideas.

There's plenty of places that make replacement wind screens. A quick google search brought up dozens of plastics places.

If you can't find one that fits, you can build, or have built a base that flushes up against the boat and marries to the base of the windshield easy enough. Fiberglassed marine plywood is your friend.
