Getting back in to fishing have 150$ for rod and reel

Featured Replies

Hello,

My son is finally old enough to fish so I too am getting back in to the sport after many years of not fishing. I’m looking for a baitcast rod and reel setup for around 150$ Can be a combo or bought individually. I’ve been looking at the Abu Garcia Jordan Lee combo for 150$.

Lews mach 2 combo is in that price range and with better reviews …. The shimano slx combo is a good beginner combo too

I know absolutely nothing about any of the 3 combos already mentioned.  You can get a RH Fuego CT 7.3:1 for $80 off Amazon and a Daiwa Aird X 6'6" MF 2-piece for $35.79 from Midway or $36.04 from Walmart.

I found better prices at the-house.com, but have never heard of the store.  A quick search turned up this, "The House has a consumer rating of 4.7 stars from 198,071 reviews..."

The Fuego/Aird-X would be a great combo in that price range.

I own this exact setup. Still going strong after 4+ years.

I’m in different route, Shimano SLX combo@ 129 at some place (T direct)still available. Go with MH 6’10” to be all around setup. Normally the reel is $99 still worth every penny.

Another vote for a MH/F Daiwa Aird and a Fuego.  There is not another combo as good for the price.

Bps extreme xml on sale for 139. Nice rod and reel to start.

Not sure if you’re looking for right or left handed? But I’m thinking of selling a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 combo (left handed retrieve) in your price range. PM me if you’re interested.

Daiwa fuego. It’s the same reel as the 100$+ tatula ct minus the t wing and you can find them on wallyworld.com for like 70$. Aird for the rod like previously mentioned.

I don’t think you can anymore, more like $85-100

That’s why I think those SLX combos for $130ish are the best deal out there

But you need a code...$64.99 here:  https://www.the-house.com/ack01149zz-daiwa-fishing-accessories?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclsrc=ds&gclsrc=aw.ds

The one for $80 on Amazon is no longer listed.  I'm sure if you check daily, it will come up again.

If you use code “primetime” it brings it down to $54, and I would certainly grab one if it wasn’t 8.1:1
