Will braided line damage line bearing roller on spinning reel

Featured Replies

I have a pfluger president and picked up some PP 10lb. I don't really like braid on spinning but it was cheaper than nylon so I picked it up for the good deal. I was just confirming it won't destroy a pfluger presidents line roller

Nope. My son in law has had 2 spooled with 15lb 4 strand for the past 4 years. I replaced one's bail spring last week and lubed it. The line roller was perfectly fine.

I run 10# Sufix 832 on my President 25...no issues yet.

No it won't harm the roller.

Since my Shimanos are in the salt, I use titanium dual-BB MTCW line rollers (no seals, no brass).

The heat-tinted titanium is softer than either chrome-plate or TiN-plasma coat, and these are exactly made for braid.

Not a recommendation, just the surface hardness and free-spinning bearing issue.

This is FFP ice-blue 20-lb X-braid, made by Varivas.

My guess, you'll wonder why you ever used mono on a spinning reel.
